Expanding Horizons

Participants of Curious Minds in Saxmundham studied artifacts from the Food Museum including those used in the kitchen: pastry cutters, chopping boards and a glass rolling pin dating back to 1850.

Inspired by the artefacts and artist Alice Andrea Ewing’s fun interpretation of mark making – participants created relief tiles that will be used to make textured marks in clay.

Our intrepid participants continued with an exploration of movement and related mark making with movement artist Sarah Lewis.

Using words and music to inspire marks, participants worked as a group to create a large drawing based on expression and emotions.

“I’ve had so much fun today, it’s lovely just to laugh together, it makes me feel so much better.”

They used their whole bodies to create large scale drawings based on the rhythms and stillness in music.

“I especially enjoyed standing up and moving to the music, it was so liberating” – participant

To celebrate people’s incredible achievements over the 12 weeks of our Saxmundham course there will be final exhibition starting 10th January 2025, 3-6pm, at The Art Station, Saxmundham.

“This course has been an absolute lifeline for me, I lose myself in the art, it takes me away from my everyday world”
