Players and key positions
Thankfully, everyone felt a lot better by last Thursday and we were able to visit Manor Farm Care Home, as planned.
We introduced the Extra Time Archive All-Stars and had a general chat about football in the town, sparking several personal recollections about the game, after which the residents created their own football characters.
And what characters they were. From long flowing hair and colourful jerseys to the enthusiastic ringing of Ethel’s bell, the work was absolutely lovely.
The residents also recorded a brief message to the children, which we shared when we visited the school that afternoon.
It was a chance to get to know the ‘team’ a little better, and they were soon telling us about their key skills and greatest achievements, as they produced their individual player’s cards.
From wanting to get a pet goose to finding a cure for cancer, the children’s imagination and ambition is formidable – I can’t wait for the next session when we’ll be doing some swerving, passing and line marking with goalie poet Dean Parkin.
