Football moves and factory spaces – Extra Time kicks off in Leiston

Yesterday was the first session of our 12-week season in Leiston – and what a lovely session it was, too.

It was also the first time that we have been joined by actress, sometime-Clown-Doctor and always theatre-maker, Hatty; within seconds she had us trying out Extra Time moves and imagining a game of football in colour, sound and feelings.

The children joined in enthusiastically, particularly when it came to making football pitches, as they demonstrated all elements of the pitch from the football to the goal post, via the winning kick.

We’ll be working with Leiston Long Shop – previously Garretts Engineering Works – during this season, and when asked to create a factory, the children really went to town.

From mimicking conveyor belts and emergency stop buttons, to a child under a table claiming he’s been working for several weeks without proper sleep or food and was exhausted – the children were brilliant; I can’t wait to take them to the Museum so we can try out some more Extra Time moves.

‘I want to be in Extra Time because it will be a fun thing to do.’
‘I wanted to join Extra Time because I thought it would be fun - and it is.’
‘I joined Extra Time because I'm always on my PS4 and I thought I could get outside more and make more friends!’
