Everyone’s a Winner

This week, the two teams met face-to-face again and, after a jolly recital of last week’s poems, our attention turned to trophies—the winning, and the keeping, of them.

The teams paired up and, prompted by questions from Dean, used small origami booklets to write a story about the sort of trophy they would like to win.

It was a lovely way to discover a little bit about players’ backgrounds, their passions and achievements; how else would we have discovered that Miss won a Blue Peter Badge for creating a house out of cereal boxes—and then lost it?

Awards ranged from winning a swimming race and having a ‘healthy look’, beating the Beech House Bakers 10-0, being accused of cheating and then losing in the rematch, to being the most flexible person and ‘helping 59 people stop running away.’

Chatting with Dean, they awarded a trophy for the Best Hat of the Year. Apparently, it got lost but then was found, safe and sound, on the shelf.

I would like to win the award by winning a race, racing or swimming. I would ]like] to win a Healthy Look
Trophies for swimming and being healthy
After that the Beech House Bakers accused us of cheating and demanded a rematch and won 10-0. After winning my trophy I decided to help children to grow flowers, etc.
Friendly rivalry between the two teams
Super Sewter Dude Esme This is how I won my award - I practised and practised and [became] super-flexible. Beech House Bakers Mary Ann This is how Mary Ann won her award. She helped 59 people stop running away and they all listened
