Extra Time to Celebrate

Thursday was our final session in Kessingland; as the children walked over to Manor Farm their conversation was all about how much they’d enjoyed taking part – and how unfair they thought we were for not coming back after Easter.

The residents were ready and waiting for us and soon everyone was playing football, comparing artwork and generally chatting and laughing together. As one of the artists commented,

“Seeing all those smiling faces says it all – everyone was so happy.”

The residents awarded the medals to the children, who were delighted to receive them and vowed to treasure them forever.

A huge thank you to all the staff at Manor Farm, particularly Amanda, for making us so welcome, and to Miss Draper and Mrs Owen from Kessingland Primary School for all their support and kindness.

Thanks also to our Extra Time team. Kate re-joined us for this session, and with Shelly, our Amanda and Gabby all playing their part, it really was a grand celebration.

We even had Warren from PagePix back to photograph the event, and a small selection of his lovely pictures features in the gallery below.

But it is the children and residents, the Wild Kessingland All-Stars and the Manor Farm Corncrakes who are the Extra Time stars.

It’s been an absolute joy working with you all – thank you for taking part, joining in the game and making it all a very special Extra Time.

‘It's lovely to see how well the children have settled together - they didn't know each other very well to begin with but they've become a really tight knit group now and play together during break.’
‘I really like Ken because he was so kind and shared his personality with us. I wrote a song about him.’
‘I will keep my medal forever to remind me.’
‘Visiting the residents has been really good because I think I made them happy.’
