Extra Time Trophies All Round

Our Extra Time season in Halesworth has come to an end; it only remained to visit the school and celebrate their achievements with fellow school friends and staff.

And so I went to the Edgar Sewter Primary school, where I presented a brief slideshow to the whole of Year 5, taking them through their classmates’ initial reasons for wanting to take part (e.g. to make new friends) via table-top football and gold medals to what the ‘players’ felt about it now.

‘Brilliant’ and ‘Please can we do it again’ were the main responses.

Each of the participating children received a certificate of achievement for taking part in Extra Time and a copy of the Extra Time Souvenir Programme; you can see the Souvenir Programme on our project page at https://www.suffolkartlink.org.uk/projects/extra-time/

The children also signed a certificate for staff at Halesworth and District Museum – and then, wonder of wonders, it turned out that they were visiting the Museum that very afternoon, as part of the school’s centenary celebrations.

So the children got to present the staff with the trophies and the certificate, which now take pride of place in the Museum’s exhibition about education in Halesworth.

It’s been a glorious season in Halesworth – my thanks to everyone who supported us and took part; I hope you all have a wonderful summer break, and I look forward to starting a whole new season in the autumn, featuring children from Leiston Primary school, residents at Charles Miller Court and staff at the Leiston Long Shop Museum.

‘Well, I buy a lottery ticket every week and I never knew it went to support projects like this - I'm really glad to see how the money's used.’
‘The children were so happy to take part; they've all said that they'd do it again in a heartbeat.’
