Greetings from Lowestoft in words and bunting
This week, it was time for the Brave Art students to write their postcard messages – but not before they’d looked at examples from old postcards in which visitors wrote about the benefits and pleasures of taking a holiday in Lowestoft.
The group discussed the many seaside attractions and entertainments and then set to, writing about paddling in the sea, eating chips on the beach and cooling down with an ice cream.
The cards were intended for friends, family and, in a couple of cases, King Charles.
After lunch, we made metres of bunting, using scraps of felt and other fabrics kindly supplied by Re-utilise. Students selected different colours to create a sense of the sea, including gentle waves on a calm day, long strands of seaweed and the strings of white foam that often get blown across the beach.
