Kick off at Poplars

It’s been a wonderful Extra Time season – we’ve visited schools, care homes and even a library, sharing some of the stories we’ve gathered and adding new ones to the collection.

Today, at Poplars Primary School in Lowestoft, we met the Year 5 children and told them a little about the Archive All-Stars and other Lowestoft football stories we’ve learned.

And then they set to, bringing those stories and characters to life, in the most colourful, enthusiastic way – it was a joy to spend some time with them.

The next Extra Time season will kick off in January, when we work with children at Kessingland Primary school and local care home, Manor Farm.

After that, we’ll be moving on to Leiston, where we’ll be working with the primary school and the Long Shop Museum.

By way of a taster, here’s Dean reciting a poem inspired by photographs of footballers at the Works.

Before I sign off – may I send a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part over the last few months; I hope you all find a little Extra Time to relax over Christmas.

‘I really enjoyed doing the drawing, the detailed drawing - I liked that.’
‘I'm going to tell people about the Co-Op Ladies Football team. I've really enjoyed this afternoon.’
