Roly Poly Morning Performance

Roly Poly is a 45-minute participatory musical playscape for under-twos to explore and enjoy with their grown-ups.

Light projections and sounds immerse the audience in a maze of corrugated cardboard, where children’s exploration is accompanied by two playful performers who bring clarinet, movement and music.

Very young children explore the world through all their senses, moving around and focusing on unpredictable things; this is their creative strength, and we encourage little ones to move and play however they wish throughout the performance. Roly Poly holds children’s expression at its heart; this is a space to simply be as you are. Audiences found the experience relaxing, warm, mesmerising, engaging and authentically child-led; parents and carers enjoyed seeing their little ones explore and interact with the performers and environment.

This project is supported by the mentorship of Magic Acorns, with creative direction from Charlotte Arculus. Roly Poly is funded by ACE, Little Beats by Youth Music and Music for All.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to settle in.

The Seagull Theatre’s access information page

    Updated access information

The Seagull is wheelchair accessible in studio 4 (the down stairs studio) the theatre, workhshop and backstage areas. All of this is flat level access, including through to the accessible loo.
The upper floor can be accessed via the lift which provides direct access to studio 2. Access to studio 1 and Studio 3 is also possible without further steps, but doorways are relatively narrow.
Sadly the access to the green room and the two upstairs toilets is still via further stairs so we recommend that people use the lift to access the downstairs accessible toilet instead.
